Sovereign Bank Arena

A “GIANT” Weekend On Tap

February 6, 2008 | Newsroom, News

Global Spectrum, operators of the Sovereign Bank Arena, begin preparations for a weekend in which the arena will host four events within a span of 65 hours.

In order for the events to take place, the ice sheet must be tripled in thickness to almost 2.5 inches, 526 pieces of flooring must laid & 2500 props must be moved into the arena and set for the curtain to rise for CATS on Thursday, February 7th at 7:30 p.m.

Before CATS is barely a “memory”, the arena will strip down to the bare ice as Motorcycles, Quads & ATV’s tear up the ice during World Championship Ice Racing on Friday, February 8th at 7:30 p.m.

The leftover gas from the motorcycles can be used to fuel up the changeover crew as they lay another 210 panels that encompass the basketball court in addition to the flooring needed to cover the ice sheet. The changeover must be completed in time for the nation’s best high school basketball players to enter the gym for the PrimeTime Shootout beginning on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 a.m. and continuing on Sunday, February 10th at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets for all upcoming events can be purchased at the Sovereign Bank Arena box office, charge by phone at 1-800-298-4200, select ACME locations, or online at www.ComcastTIX.com. For discounted group sales information, call 609-656-3399.
